Gila Petit Verdot and Quat Cabernet Franc
Win Gold at the 2025 Virginia Governor’s Cup

We are thrilled to announce that Gila Petit Verdot and Quat Cabernet Franc, our sibling wines, entirely Loudoun-Grown, Loudoun-Made single varietals have won gold medal status in the 2025 Governor’s Cup, which recognizes the finest wines across the Commonwealth of Virginia.

These 2021 releases showcase the beauty and enjoyment of Loudoun County fruit and we are proud to share this honor with so many other talented wineries, winemakers, vineyard managers and those who work behind the bar and under the sun.

All four wines entered in the competition were recognized for their excellence. Our perennial champion white wine, First Harvest, this time for our 2022 release was awarded silver medal status (adding to previous gold medal awards from previous Governor’s Cup). Our newest red blend Prossimo also took home silver status.

We are very thankful to raise our glass! Cheers and come by to try this combined effort that represents Loudoun Wine and all the passion of Wine Reserve at Waterford.

In celebration of these newest accolades we are presenting a seated tasting at the winery tasting room on Saturday, March 29, 2025. This ticketed event is a great way to sample all of our award winning wines including those we no longer sell on our menus! More information on this tasting event can be found here.
