Background on the Wine:
This release of our annual single varietal is sourced from a nearby Waterford vineyard that produces exceptional fruit.

Floral Violet on the nose with soft herbal and spiced notes at the end. This release leans floral (thyme and pink peppercorn) and coats the tongue like a strong cup of black tea. Firm tannic bite to match

More details on the process:

We again aged this wine 14 months as we have done with previous Petit Verdot releases but we turned up the new oak big time. We saw great things when other Loudoun winemakers approached their bolder reds with higher toast barrels and we did the same for 2022.

Background on the name: Pronounced
“JEE-la” this is the nickname our son gave his baby sister months before we welcomed her to this crazy ride that is the Phillips family. Like the kid, this wine is an elegant flower with a fiery side.
