Background on the Wine:
Aged along side its sister red, Gila, this big brother Cabernet Franc brings a bright fruit nose, light seasoned pepper on the palate, with a deep finish aided by an extra few months on 2-year old French oak.

Awards and Recognitions:
2025 Governor’s Cup Gold Medal Winner.

More details on the process:
By aging the wine more than a year and utilizing our French oak that had only previously been used with Cabernet Franc fruit we brought on a more traditional finish for this Bordeaux champion.

Background on the name:
“Quat” is short for Kumquat, the nickname given to our first child. When he was still growing in his mama’s belly we had weekly updates on his size, from a grape, to a cherry tomato, to a kumquat. The adorableness of that name stuck. “You picking up the Quat from daycare?” was a regular occurrence. The original name of the wine was to be “Kumquat” but the folks in the federal government’s alcohol label approval process said it could confuse consumers that the wine was indeed made from kumquats – so Quat it became. This is the counterpart to our Petit Verdot of 2021, named Gila (Kumquat’s sister’s nickname, of course).
