Background on the Wine:
Our personal preferences guide the wines we decide to make and while we tend to gravitate towards the drier side, we wanted something with a touch of sweetness for those hot summer days or to pair with dessert. Home Sweet Home strikes a beautiful balance between sugar and acid for wine drinkers of all types. The sweetness of the Vidal Blanc is tempered by the off-dry Petit Manseng. You can expect soft notes of tropical fruit with a hint of citrus on the palette. The 2020 release went on to claim a coveted medal in the 2022 Loudoun Wine Awards which included a panel of judges from the local industry, including the head somme from The Inn at Little Washington.

More details on the process:
We had tried Petit Manseng in many styles but wanted to keep the presentation of the fruit as dry as possible. We love our First Harvest Petit Manseng, but at .5 percent residual sugar sometimes you need something extra sweet with a hit of spice. This third volume of our sweetest wine is bolstered by late harvest Vidal Blanc courtesy of Doug Fabbioli.

Background on the name:
Our Home Sweet Home white blend label has always been a nod to where we are with creating our own sense of place here in Waterford. The current label features the floorplans from our home which we recently completed next to the vineyard. Previous versions of the wine were dedicated to our Tiny House (2018) and they Staycation that was the pandemic (2019).
